Record navigation in Access returns the wrong record

I have an unusual problem with some record navigation in Access 2007 (SQLServer 2005 backend, tables linked via ODBC).  I've written some functionality to look up records based upon certain criteria (for example, locating by Product Code).  Normally, it works fine.  However, there are times the wrong record will appear.  Repeating the attempt the same wrong record will appear.  However, if I close the database, then re-open it and try the same function, the proper record is returned.  

Has anyone run into this before?  Is there a solution, other than me banging my head against the wall?
