The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

MS-Access question

Asked by JBROOKS in Microsoft Access Database

I guess this is question II related to a report I'm trying to get right.
I have a report designed (in 2.0) to give data about various forms of contact I've had with clients.  I have dating groupings by month to give totals & percentages re: date of contact, date of intake, and date of disposition.  I developed a query which uses as Between..And... criteria statement in each of those three columns (the same statmement each time so it doesn't repeat) and then IIf... statements in new columns to Sum the totals of the answers which fit my criteria.  This all works and I get the data I need but I have one problems (?) left:

If, when the query runs to get the data for the report, I enter that I wish to view data Between 3/1/97 And 3/30/97 I get "more" on the report than I really want - data from previous months.  This is because if someone was discharged from my service on 3/2/97 they may well have been contacted in January and intaked in Feb. so the report gives data on those months too.  I need to refine the query (or report) in such a way that any contact within the date range is displayed but contacts related to the same episode from previous dates are not displayed.  Note, though, that I do need to show it if multiple contacts with the same individual (Intake & Disposition, say) occurred within the specified time period.  Does that make sense?

I almost got his to work by creating another new query column using an IIf... statement related to the contact dates {CONTACT= IIf([FIRST CONTACT] & [INTAKE] & [DISPOSITION] >= [Enter the beginning date],mmm yyy,0) } but that only works correctly if I only do one month at a time.  If I do a report for several months it won't separte the months in that new column.

Thanks.  Jeff
