Access 2000 Corruption: Could not Find object MSysDb

Tags: find, object, could, msysdb
Hi there,
An mdb file was lost due to hardware failure. Used Norton System Works 2002 to recover. Since then any attempt to open the db file displays the following error message:
"The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'MSysDb'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell it's name and path correctly."
I think this is error 3011 and that MsysDb is an MSAccess container which relates to access permissions.
I have attempted the following to try and correct the problem (all failed):
1. Compact & repair
2. MSQuery to try and export.
3. Jetcomp.exe (doesn't need to open the file apparantly)
4. VB6 code attempting to access Recordsets using ODBCWorkspace, both DNS and nonDNS connection strings.
5. Trawled thru MSDN trying to find a solution

I don't have access to any non MS relational DBs so I can't attempt to connect to the file using a non MS ODBC driver.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Pat!!

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

We just used the Access product from officerecovery.com on a corrupted db and got fully recovery on a db that we had not been able to repair previously.  We received the same error message as above: "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'MSysDb'.
