The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Opening a linked subform

Asked by spartan789 in Microsoft Access Database

Here is my (simplified) situation:

I have a form with a subform.  The subform contains many fields.  Depending on the value in the subform's combo box, a specific form opens.  This form that opens contains text boxes which are fields that are in the same table as the original subform. I use the following code to open a specific form from a combo box and command button:

Private Sub Command82_Click()
If Me.Combo73 = "2" Then
 DoCmd.OpenForm "Macroform"
 Else: DoCmd.OpenForm "Switchboard"
End If
End Sub

Obviously this only opens two forms, based on one value.  My problem is that I cannot get the form that pops up to "remember" which "ID" it belongs to.  Let me give you an example:

This database is to monitor investment funds.  Different funds have different strategies.  Some invest in stocks, some in bonds, etc.  Therefore, a user will want fields relating to stocks (small, mid, large cap) to open up on one form, and fields relating to bonds (US Government, Investment Grade, Junk Bonds) to open up in another.  Naturally, the form that opens up depends on the strategy of the fund.  All the fields (from small cap stocks to Junk Bonds) are in the table that contains the funds' details. Only when someone chooses a strategy from the combo box and clicks on the command button, do I want a form to open up that has the relevant fields.

How can I get the form that "pops up" open to the respective fund's information?

I know very little VBA code, so if possible, please be explicit.  Thanks.
