Cell colour in a Datasheet

Ive been trying to get a firm answer all over the place to this one.

All i want to do is have a specific record in a Access 2000 Datasheet coloured depending on a value contained within a field.

It sounds simple enough to me, but from the sounds of it its actually very difficult to do.

Using Me![txtTextBox].BackColor only works out of datasheet view. I have a Select Case statement that binds the correct colour to the text box depending on a value in a field and this works just fine. But the colour won't work in datasheet view.

People have suggested using a Flexgrid control. I can't use this because i dont have VB6 installed, and also i don't want to have to put in a lot of code to display records.

Basically im making a form to display a schedule. The schedule gets updated almost on a daily basis, and id like to display on the record when it gets updated by using a specific colour. My users have been using an Excel spreadsheet for months in a similar fasion.

any help much appreciated :) This is the forum Google always seems to give me answers to my questions on so im hoping ill get an answer this time!
