What do you mean by define all fields? Which fields are you joining on with the other tables?

now I want to write a query which will extract all fields from emp but single field from other tables. My problem is , emp table contains allmost 50 to 55 fields. is there any shortcut way to define all fields of emp table, like * .

HELLO JIM,
you r correct.
I have written
SELECT E.*, C.COMP_NAME
FROM HRMS_EMP_MAST AS E LEFT JOIN HRMS_COMP_MAST AS C ON E.EMP_COMP=C.COMP_CODE;
but now the problem is , how to add third table like HRMS_DEPT_MAST . This table will be joined as outer join, where dept_name will be added to above resultset.
any suggestion?

Thats excatly it. To reference all columns on that table use emp.*
