The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Selectively Print Columns in a Report depending on paramenter

Asked by rmission in Microsoft Access Database

In a report, I only want to print the value of one particular column out of 12 colums.

The data source for my report is a table with the following fields:

field1 string
field2 string
year string
amount1
amount2
.....
amount12

Note that the digit suffix (1..12) in the 'amountx' fields above correspond to the 12 months of the year. In other words, amount1 contains the value for January, amount2 for February and so on.

I call the report from a parameter form. On this form, the user is required to put in the month value (amongst other parameters). The month value entered by the user determines which correct amount to display in the report.

Note too that the report will only have one control to display the correct amount (not 12 controls).

The report should look like this:

Field1         Field2        Year     Amount
----------------------------------------------
aaaa          bbbb           2003    1244.00
ccccc         ccccc           2003     3333.01
.......

So if, for example, the user puts down 1 for the month in the parameter form, then the Amount column in the report must only contain values from the Amount1 field.

Can someone help me out on how I can achieve this?

Thanks.
