Why use VBA rather then macros?

Now that I've got your attention, I thought I'd start a little friendly-controversy among the experts. I'll split points to all who join in!

What am I missing? I've been designing desktop databases since DOS days and dBase. When I graduated to Access back in the 90's, I was thrilled to use the visual tools, as I hate to type. When I teach Access applications and database design courses (level beginner through advanced) we do not even discuss VB!

So, my question is, why are almost all of the expert solutions VB based? Some of the experts (good morning Jack) even chide newbies for not wanting to learn VB. In all of these years, I have gotten by with using very little, if any, vb in my applications, and I hope to continue. The only reason I use it now is when i need to upsize to SQL server, and even then I "cheat" and use the upsizing wizards.

Also, when you all send your VB solutions, you so often have typos and have to re-post. Hopefully, the person on the other end is working on a backup copy of the database!!

So, anybody want to try to convert me? What am I missing here?
