The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

PASSWORD IN PROGRAMMATIC UNC SYNCH

Asked by jjjtuohy in Microsoft Access Database

Tags: password, unc

Hello good people,
I hope someone can help with this particularly arcane problem. It's a new thread from
http://oldlook.experts-exchange.com/Databases/MS_Access/Q_20840938.html
where I needed to code for synchronization where the master had a list of the possible UNC paths, tested to see which was currently connected and then synchronized (ref code below).

'***********************************************************
'***********************************************************
Dim Synch_Paths As Variant
Dim Synch_Path As Variant
Dim errNo As Long

'Synch_Paths = Array("\\Tablet_PC1\CRM\JOHN.mdb", "\\Tablet_PC2\CRM\DEREK.mdb", "\\Tablet_PC3\CRM\BILLY.mdb", "D:\CRM\JOHN FLASH DRIVE.mdb")

For Each Synch_Path In Synch_Paths

 On Error Resume Next
 Dir (Synch_Path)
 errNo = Err.Number
 On Error GoTo 0

    If errNo = 0 Then
      CurrentDb.Synchronize Synch_Path
    End If
'***********************************************************
'***********************************************************

However I now need to deal with the passwords on the laptops/tablets that I connect to.

My take is that:
(1) The connection to the laptop will be recognised but when the shared folders on that laptop are queried, the password request licks in.

OR

(2) The workgroup (which the master and laptop-based replica belong) will be recognised but when the laptop is queried, the password request licks in.

How & where do I programmatically present the password?
USER:="JOHN", PASSWORD:="pass55"     ??????????????? or similar??????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
John
