Hi , I have an acees database split front end and back end on our LAN at work, this is wirking fine but I need 3 people to acces the dbase over the net. For speed reasons, I want to leave the dbase on the LAN, however when the office closes, I have scheduled the back end to be uploaded to our website, and the downloaded before the office reopens. the backend addresss is http://www.xxx.com/_privat

No, you can't do this.
In addition to Terminal Server and Citrix which are quite costly, I can recommend to check the low-cost alternative, WinConnect, out:

Hi daijames,
You cannot link a normal Access front-end to a backend file in this way and have any hope of satisfactory performance.
You will be lucky if you even manage to connect within timeout periods.
WAN speeds are simply not in the same ballpark that Access needs (and gets on a LAN).
You will have to look for other solutions; the most common ones would be (a)use of MS_Terminal_Services or Citrix or (b) proper web front-end development.
