The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. How can I put a "continuation" footer at the end of each individual column in a multi-column report?

Hello MS Access Expert,

I'm hoping you will be able to help with what has eluded me thus far.

I have a two-column Access 2000 report that I am writing (actually it is a college transcript).  The page is set up for 2 columns.  IMMEDIATELY after the last group footer line in the first column (which would be the last line in the first column), I want to print the text "Continued on next column".  This text must follow immediately after the last group footer line for a column - for security purposes, so that students cannot forge their own courses onto this official document.  And, this continuation message must appear as the very last line in the column.  Likewise, immediately following the last group footer line in column 2, I wish to print the text "Continued on next page", also for security purposes.  Page two and three if needed would have the same two messages at the bottom of each respective column.  The columns can be of varying lengths, as "keep together" must be specified by the academic term.  So, regardless of the length of a column, the security message must appear immediatley following the last line in the column.

I have been unable to trap any event that tells me that Access is about to go to a new column (or to a new column on a new page), so I've been unable to make this work.  Doing a manual count of lines printed, and then forcing a new column when the counter reaches a certain point will probably not work either, as much of the text boxes in the columns can expand or contract according to the data that needs to be printed.  This would make line counting very inexact.  Note that I cannot use a built-in footers because the security message needs to "float" just below the last line of each column.
