tab control

I have a several forms that I need to user to access. I'd like to use a tab control to make the interface look less crowded or clunky...whatever...each page on the tab control is really a separate form but I could have the "ImportFile" and "Exit" commands at the top of the control and just make sure that it was controlling the correct page....but I'm not familiar with the tab control. I have built it, it looks good but I'm wondering why, when I select the tab(page) all of the controls are highlighted. I've been reading some of the past questions concerning the tab and it seems as if one needs to use a subform...???? on each page???.....and that really all of these controls are on the same form, that the tab control is just a way to hide/unhide controls...how does one get the pages on the control to act like separate forms??

any light you can shed on using this control would be helpful...I'm wondering now if this is really the way to go....I assume it is as all applications use tabs....this is Ac97
