saving network file paths to access

Hello,

I have a question. I am saving filepaths to an access db stored on the network, and retrieving the file from the filepath (rather than saving documents in the db - saving space).
It all works fine, but I have just found out that users in other offices don't have the drive names free for the drive names I have allocated (through code and in the database fields for 'filepath').
This means that if they try to open a file with file path 'f:\myfile.xls', and they have mapped their drive to g:\ instead, it won't open.
I have tried storing the network file path but it doesn't open the document either. Problems will also occur if a user saves a new filepath to the system, because it will be saved as, for example, g:\myfile.xls and then when a user using f:\ tries to open it then it won't open for them.

Question is, how do you save either network paths to a field storing filepaths, or can you save a relative path? If so, how?
