what I meant... (sorry, I wasn't very clear) was to just resize that field to where it disappears... now you won't be able to make it un disappear except with this little trick:

make 2 identical subforms, 1 with the field hidden and one with it not. If you want to hide or reveal the field, you swap subforms

I haven't been able to get it to dissapear at all yet.

once it's gone I don't want it back =)

could you post the code I should use and where is the best spot to put it (OnOpen of subform?)

the way I am talking about involves no code at all

I just resize the field with the cursor, you might have to open the subform outside of the main form in datasheet view to get it to do that.

I can set the column width to zero, but when I reopen the database it comes back again.

there must be a way to set its Hide or Column Width property with code??

Well, I just did it... so I am pretty sure you can

I found that I could change it on the subform while opened on the main form... just make sure the main form is in form view, not design when you do it

yep, I was in design view.  changed to form view and it appears to be saving the setting =)

did you try opening the subform outside of the main form and setting / saving it there?

I just closed and re-opened my test db and it was still hidden

what version of access are you using? it worked in 2k3
