Multiple Import Loop - VBA

Hi,

I am in a situation whereby I have around 50 folders, each with around 6 files, and are all named with an ambiguous extension (.eve) due to the system in which these files are uploaded. I am wanting to import all of these files into an access database, first of all I need to know if some code can be written to select files that have none standard extensions (manually I cannot select these files), if not then can they all be renamed by looping through the files and folders?
Secondly I need to have a pre-determined import format (probably fixed width) and need to loop through all the files and import them into one/two individual tables whithin Access.

What are the possibilities of the above, I'm used to coding in Excel so I'm not overly confident in Access as yet. Or is there any other approach that would be more efficient/quicker?
