The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Truncated text in memo (data type) field

I usually don't like to use memo (data type) fields.   Given that some records will have to include more than 255 characters for e.g. "problem descriptions", I had to choose some memo fields in my db.

Now, in a query, the text of the memo fields is truncated at character 255.   In a previously used db, I've had this problem before... at that time, my workaround was to apply "Group By" and then select "First" in the Total column.   That allowed me to show all the text of the memo field.

In another db though, I use a UNION query.   In this UNION query, applying "First" results in a reduced number of records though.  

Not sure if the info provided above is sufficient to help me... but if anyone knows what's causing the "First" to NOT work in the UNION query, I'd appreciate any tips/pointers as to how I can resolve it.
