Update Table Through VBA Code Using DoCmd RunSQL

Tags: update, vba, table, access
I built a DB that has a form used to input data.  The fields on the form are not bound to any tables.  I am creating code to capture the data from the form and upload it to a table.  Below is an example of how I am doing that...

Me!txtANS01_01_07_OTHER.SetFocus
If Not Me!txtANS01_01_07_OTHER.Text = "" Then
    other_01_01_07 = Me!txtANS01_01_07_OTHER.Text
    temp_sql = "UPDATE tblALL_ANSWERS "
    temp_sql = temp_sql + "SET fldANSWER_OTHER_INFO = '" & other_01_01_07 + "' "
    temp_sql = temp_sql + "WHERE fldTEST_COORD_NUM = " & test_coord_num + " "
    temp_sql = temp_sql + "AND fldANSWER_KEY = '01.01.07';"
    DoCmd.RunSQL (temp_sql)
End If

When I run this code, Access gives me a dialogue box asking to confirm the update of the row.  This becomes a problem because I have many updates to run and as such I keep getting dialogue boxes to confirm the update.

Is there a way to shut off this confirmation that Access spits out?  Or is there different code that I can run so as to update the table without getting that dialogue box?

PS - The way the table is structured, I have a need to update many different rows with many different where clauses.  So unless there is a way to stack the updates in one sql statement, I need a new solution.

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.
