The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I only extract most recent date, with all other data associated with the record, from a query with multiple entries for one student?

My dilemma,
I’m trying to develop a query where I can extract a student’s last enrollment date along with all other data associated with that record.  Using the “Last” option in a crosstab query I can extract the last enrollment record only when the student ID# and the DT_Entry and DT_Withdrawn fields are present.  When I add the rest of the fields to the query the crosstab “Last” option does not work.  I get all the records for all the students.  In the example data below for student# 008876, I would like to only extract the fourth record.  That record tells me the student is still enrolled because the DT_Withdraw is blank.  For student# 009201 I want the query to extract the last record (in the example below). This record tells me this is the most recent (last) enrollment however the student has withdrawn.

Table
CAMPUS_ID         STU_ID       DT_ENTRY     DT_WITHDRAW            WITHDRAW_CD       ACTIVE_CD
001                    008876       20060814       20060814                             44                         2
001                    008876       20060815       20060907                             60                         2
005                    008876       20061101       20061114                             30                         2
005                    008876       20070124                                                                              1
001                    009201       20060814       20060814                            44                          2
001                    009201       20060922       20061025                            49                          2
005                    009201      20061025        20070108                            49                          2
001                    009201      20070108        20070120                            80                          2

The desired query result will include all data pertaining to these records, there are 12 other fields to the query.
Example query result.
