  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Why does my instr function returns a false negative

I have a VBA function that is calling a web page, searching the resulting web page with instr that then populates the data into a Access database.
My problem is that the   instr   is returning a  false negative.  The data I am looking for is imbedded in JavaScript which contains a whole lot of special characters.  I'm guessing that the special character are causing my problem

Here is a peice of the code

   SearchString = "html"
   If (StartPos = InStr(PageContent, SearchString)) > 0 Then
       do something else

How do I get around this problem
