The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Writing data on a bound form via update queries

Asked by AndrewDBrown in Microsoft Access Database

I have an Access 2003 database that is used by a marketing team to make calls with.  Very occasionally I will get a bit of corruption on the database (this is very rare and normaly only happens when more than 15 operators are working across a busy network at the same time).   Although this is very rare - it always occurs on the main table.

The database is split into a front-end and back-end with the front-end being deployed on everyones PC.  Each operator will generally go into their own set of records, which do not conflict with one another.  The main form that they will use is BOUND via a recordsource query - depending on what section they are working on eg; "SELECT [tblCore Data].* FROM [tblCore Data] WHERE [Town/City] = 'LONDON'"

In order to stop issue I would ideally like the changes made on the form to be sent to [tblCore Data] via an update query rather than by the form itself - as I have been told that this will be more reliable.

In a perfect world the database would be put onto an SQL server and I would then use un-bound forms and sprocs and queries to control the data flow - but that is not really possible for this app at present.

Can anyone give me any pointers.Start Free Trial
