I have record set that has been exported into the following date format:
Thu Mar 30 08:48:22 EST 2006
Thu Dec 28 15:07:11 EST 2006
Tue Jan 01 00:00:00 EST 1980
What query can I run that will change this format to the following format (from the above example)
30-MAR-2006
28-DEC-2006
01-JAN-1980
Please note that I cannot change the Data Type of this field to 'Date/Time' due to other data being there that isn't Date/Time
Thanks

You will have to create a function to strip out the day and time, convert the date to the format desired and call the function from an update query. The function can use Mid and Right it the number of characters stay the same. The function would also have to determine which records have the date and which do not. If all the dates have "EST" in them and the non dates do not then InStr could be used.used.

Hi,
If you had the beginning string and wanted to turn it to the next string ie keeping it as text and not as a date time you could do
split(YourFieldName, " ")(2)& "-" & split(YourFieldName, " ")(1) & "-" & split(YourFieldName, " ")(5)
