The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Transpose and parse address labels

Asked by shaun37 in Microsoft Access Database

Tags: , ,

I have a txt file of address labels.  They are importing into one field of a table.  Some addresses have 4 lines, some have 5 and each group is separated by 4 blank lines.  The sample data looks like this:

ABC  0004573543    NOV07     1
JOE SMITH
103 READY RD APT 22
NASHVILLE       TN 12345

BCD  0234544638    NOV07     6
JANE JONES
9669 FURMAN ST
CHICAGO         IL 54321

BCD  0028694758    NOV07     1
JULIE MILLS
123 EAST MAIN STREET
HOMETOWN     CA 55424

I want to read each line, determine whether there are 4 or five lines because I assume if there are four, then Add2 not present.  Otherwise I assume Add2 is present.  I will need to use the code for future files - this isn't a one-time thing.

I'd like the output to parse into the following fields:
MagCode, AcctNo, copies, NameLine, Add1, Add2, City, ST, ZIP

I'm a longtiime user but a firsttime poster.  I can handle a complex solution, but I can't derive it myself.
Thanks for taking a look.
