try uninstalling Office 2003 and reinstall up to SP2
do not install SP3 -- plenty of problems..
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI'm working on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine with Office 2003 Pro SP3. I've isolated my problem as follows. If I create a new empty database db1.mdb, open a new module in design mode, and enter the following into the immediate window:
?application.currentprojec
and press retrun I get the following error message:
run-time error -2147024770 (8007007e) The specified module could not be found.
If I close the module, and click Help, About Microsoft Access, System Information, and then expand Office 2003 Applications, and then expand Microsoft 2003 Environment, and then click OLE DB Providers, the entry for Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider has a value of Not Available. Every other computer on the domain shows the version number as the value.
So what's gone wrong on this machine? I've removed and re-installed Office 2003 and S3 and the problem persists. Where do I go from here?

Just solved the problem. I searched for jet 4.0 oledb provider and happened upon some information about a .dll file called msjetoledb40.dll. I searched the computer for that dll and found c:\windows\system32\msjeto
I pulled the msjetoledb40.dll from c:\i386 and copied it into c:\windows\systems32 and was then able to install both databases with no problems.

BTW, I have verified that the latest version of msjet40.dll exists in c:\windows\system32
