The Solution Rating System

  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. How to specify parameters/environment variables e.g. NLS_SORT for Oracle passthrough query

I'm trying to run a query that needs to use a case-insensitive search (Ora10R2) using:

alter session set NLS_SORT='BINARY_CI'; SELECT  * from foo where name = 'smith'

That works fine from a console but how do I do it from Access using a passthrough query? I have an Ora ODBC DSN.
If I set the SQL of a passthrough query to the above code I get an ODBC Oracle error 911 "Invalid character" when the query is run.Start Free Trial
