Access 2003 OLE object failed register OLE server

My problem is very similar to one that's already documented here but the difference is that I am running Office 2003 and I'm trying to store a word (.doc) file into a field in my database. The field is defined as "OLE Object".

Now here's the run, this used to work perfectly up until recently. However I did install Office SP3 and also have installed NAV 2008. Since these upgrades the problem has occured displaying the error message in the attached file.

I have seen some suggestions about the problem being related to NAV and the blocking of scripts but with NAV 2008 I can't seem to an option that controls this. In actual fact I have tried turning off NAV's auto protection for a period of time but the problem still persist.

I've also found reports of similar errors to what I'm getting but frustratingly none are showing a resolution.

Just by way of additional info, I have a laptop configured with the exact same software and at the same levels as my desktop system and it too is getting the same problem.
