How do I change the timeout for a hyperlink?

When I click on a MS Access hyperlink to a non-existent file on my home network it often takes 40 seconds or more before the "Unable to open filepathname. Cannot open the specified file." message  appears.  Windows appears to be trying a number of times to find the file (the light blue screens on the dual computer icons at the bottom right toolbar of my screen flash several times).  

How can I either reduce the number of retries or the total timeout time before the message appears?  I would like to do this via VB code if possible.Start Free Trial
