The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I do not agree.  omgang had a perfectly usable answer.  The 'Accepted Solution' is nothing more than another way to skin the cat - and in Access there are often several ways of saying the same thing.  The rule is the first correct answer gets the cookie.  You chose the second.

Thanks GRayL.  I was so proud of myself for finally answering a question ahead of DatabaseMX :)  Then he one-ups me by getting his answer accepted over mine :(

What can I say?  He's just better than I am ;)

Sorry OM, the reason is, i thought i had tried your solution earlier, hence why i asked the question, i must have mistyped it in at that time though. Your solution does work, sorry for the mess up, any way to swap around the points?

Just an fyi here ...when I brought this Q up, there were *no* other posts at that time.  However, someone came into my office just as I had started to type that answer.  When they left, I added the reaming characters and hit submit. So, in fact, I was *not* trying to one-up anyone. It wasn't till later in the day that I even saw gRay's post, at which point I assumed it would be taken care of.

If course, there is a subtle difference in the answers ... mine takes into account Time ... so if ... that mattered to his particular case ... that well, it would matter :-)
