Question

*** All Cheer for mbizup ***

Asked by: harfang

Defending the colours of the Access zone, Miriam is running for BRONZE!

Please all cheer for the last hour of the "Spring Cleaning" {http:/springCleanupSignup.jsp}, and watch the scoreboard {http:/springCleanupScoreboard.jsp}!

An a huge thanks, too, I've noticed a strange acceleration of the cleanup process. Now I know what this was about. Great job!

Cheers Miriam!

Thanks, guys!

The bulk of the cleanup work I've been doing lately has been Jan - Oct 2007 in the main Access zone.  I've seen a few of you consistently in a LOT of those questions, and have been wondering what your email inboxes must look like.  I hope you like spam!!

There are still a lot of lists in the Cleanup zone that the Mods haven't processed yet, so that scoreboard is not quite final.  Also, even though the site hasn't updated the contest page yet, they're extending the contest through March 22.   So I'll keep flooding your inboxes for another week and then take a break from it :-)

@ sudonim:
>but what does this all mean?
Possible a "Limited Edition EE Coffee Mug", and definitely a stronger eyeglass prescription after all that late-night Cleanup reading!  :-)

Miriam,

Anyone who watches the Hall of Fame knows you are close to the 2 million mark, and you could have easily decided to pursue that landmark than to help with the cleanups.

Thanks for being so dedicated!

Ah, but where do the CV points go? Are they kept separate, or are they assigned to the zone of the questions? More importantly, should I leave this question dormant for cleanup, so that Miriam gets the rare chance to suggest her own comment as accepted solution?

(°v°)

by: mbizupPosted on 2008-03-16 at 03:10:51ID: 21136369

The CV points are just for the contest.  It's one point per closed question in larger zones and 2 points per question in the smaller zones.

> the rare chance to suggest her own comment as accepted solution?
LOL!  That sounds like fun.

Miriam,

I'll leave this open until the final result. But you can post one of your famous cleanup comments right here, just for the fun of it!

Hello Nic! Long time no see! Are you still getting cleanup messages?

Marcus, I vote to up the points to 500!  Then of course, select one of mBizZip's posts.  So far in this flurry of cleanup, I must have at least 20 additional Accepted or Assisted Q's !!!

by: harfangPosted on 2008-03-16 at 21:17:08ID: 21139812

Of course, that's the idea. But I won't be allowed 500 points: it's been lowered to 20 by a page editor already... as are all congratulatory messages.

Miriam, you should never be limited, you should be premium.

Thanks four the hard work. And getting me some points.

by: DatabaseMXPosted on 2008-03-17 at 09:05:37ID: 21143479

Well, in some ways ... a 'limited edition' is ... premium ... especially if there is just ONE 'limited edition' cup.  EE - are you getting this ?

I was offline for about 2 weeks, when I got back online, I had a whole folder full of "Good Answer" e-mails! No wonder I couldn't keep up with our point leaders...none of my OPs ever closed their questions! lol
Thanks to you Miriam...keep up the good work. I think a coffee mug is kind of a cheap prize for all those hours. Not surprising though. Good thing all we really want here on EE is respect and appreciation! You definately have ours.

Thanks, Jeff.

> none of my OPs ever closed their questions!
The last time I saw statistics posted on this (this was before the release of the new interface last year), around 47% of the questions asked in the Access Zone were getting abandoned.  Hopefully the new automatic close/delete features will help out with that... once the askers figure out when and how they should be used :-)

Please return to {http:/springCleanupScoreboard.jsp} and let's cheer some more! Is Miriam running for GOLD? Did she really clean up and finalize 764 questions before Easter?

by: mbizupPosted on 2008-03-24 at 06:07:36ID: 21193256

:-)

There are still a lot of recommendation lists in the Cleanup zone that have not been processed yet, so those numbers aren't final.  They should be posting the results sometime this week.

by: jimpenPosted on 2008-03-24 at 09:30:33ID: 21194641

So any word?

by: mbizupPosted on 2008-04-02 at 19:17:10ID: 21269289

I haven't heard anything from EE yet, but I think that the scoreboard is showing the actual totals now.  The updated page saying that the contest is over is a late April Fool's joke (or Poisson D'Avril in Markus's part of the world).     :-)

by: harfangPosted on 2008-04-02 at 19:37:19ID: 21269366

So 1198 points (with a comfortable 177 pt lead over the runner-up) is definitive? Can we stop cheering and start celebrating ("faire la fête")?

Just wondering: did you sleep at all? or were your kids locked in the basement for all that time?

(°v°)

by: mbizupPosted on 2008-04-02 at 20:39:22ID: 21269563

> So 1198 points (with a comfortable 177 pt lead over the runner-up) is definitive?
I *think* so (reserved optimism)    :-)

It sounds about right.  There are 120-ish out of about 1000 questions in the main Access zone from 2007 that I did not post in for various reasons (cluelessness, conflict of interest, etc...).    That ratio is pretty typical for me.   The other zones I cleaned up were Access Forms and SQL Syntax.

> were your kids locked in the basement for all that time?
LOL!
I got most of this done after the kids went to bed, and before going to work.  I set aside a couple of hours for this every day, and answered very few EE questions during that time so that I could focus on cleanup.

It's official enough to have made it into the newsletter, but I'm still waiting for Wes's coffee mug.
