The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Basics on using Access on Citrix, how does the front end work

Asked by williampeck in Microsoft Access Database, Citrix, Access Architecture/Design

I want to get my Access application on Citrix. The company currently has a couple of Access apps, and I've been in other places where there are Access apps on Citrix.

I want to get a better understanding of Access on Citrix so I can talk intelligently to the Citrix guys.

The point of putting Access on Citrix is to improve performance. In a recent post where I was looking for tips to improve performance, one suggestion was Windows Terminal Server. So I assume that since we have Citrix that is the equivalent to WTS.

And (my understanding of) the reason for putting it on WTS is that it then becomes a "local application". My current environment is a large WAN, spread out over the state. Performance of Access is tolerable but still a bit of turn-off. If performance was increased (via the Citrix approach), users would "love" the application. But currently the performance is such that they're only "passing friends."

So, I want to understand about the fe and be, how does that work for a user?

Would there be one dedicated server with the fe and be, and the Access-Citrix option drives the user to this server?

Are users all clicking on the same fe? If so, is that ok?

The thread below discusses each user having their own "fe", so I don't understand how that would work. Where is the fe that they would each have a copy?
