To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. I have done much research, but keep finding conflicting answers on what is best practice for developing a multi-user Access database and what sort of back-end is most appropriate. I have chosen Access because I know it well, and this application needs to have tight integration into the MS Office Suite. However, I am unsure as to go with a SQL Server back-end or use Microsoft's new 2007 version ACCDB file. Many have said Acces's ADP format will be "fading away", so I am not going that route. I would prefer to have my forms "bound" because of development ease, but will this be too much of a performance drain? Also, If I go with SQL Server can I have "bound" forms with 6-10 users? Does SQL Server have the sort of checks that the JET engine maintains?
Requirements:
* 6-10 simultaneous users using MS Access on desktop/laptop to modify data
* Back-end will be served on a Server
* 6-10 users will access data from web interface (read-only)
* Tables most likely will have no more than 10K records
