My client has an Access 2003 database (mdb) that has been in use for several years. All customer workstations have Office 2003.
Several fields in the database store objects (word documents/PDFs,spreadsheet
s. Not the smartest way to do it but it works for them.
In preperation for an upgrade for a different database, they have begun upgrading Access to Access2007 (only access - not the rest of Office 2003) on their workstations.
Now, after upgrading to Access 2007, a couple of the Access2007 users can not add an object (DOC/XLS/anything) to their database. They get an error message to the effect..
"The OLE server may not be registered. "
"To register the OLE server, reinstall it. "
Some of the Access2007 CAN add objects. Only a couple CAN NOT add an object.
What is the real problem? They need this fixed as they need to still use the MDB. They are all still on XP Pro, by the way.
This has been asked by someone else before but the solutions were to reinstall the entire computer or to not embed objects into the database - neither a realistic solution in this case.
