Yes, That is the one of the issues with the "points only" system of measuring success.

It really does not take the "quality" of posts into consideration.
I would never put my self ahead of Jim in any respect.

Now that you bring up the "old timers".

He claims not to have much time though. That's good because he used to vacuum the new questions, and with the new stupid system (where accepted questions "dissappear") you would think that only very few questions were put!

Well, if you will allow me to speak freely here on my special day...

1. Free memberships:
If a wretch like me can average 30,000 per month, perhaps the limit should be raised?

2. Unlimited Points:
IMHO, this is way to cheap, 500 point questions are the norm, and even 250 point Q's get snubbed. Perhaps the price of Unlimited points should be raised?

3. New members:
I won't repeat the old refrain of them not reading the membership agreement.
But I will speak to the trend in the questions becoming more repetitive, and at the same time, more bizarre.

4. No one seems to be doing even basic research to say what they have already tired to solve the issue.
We just get: "It's not working"
:-(

5. People asking for free "Consulting"
"Design my database for me"

6. (more so with the advent of Access 2007)
People "designing" a complex system, finding out that it does not work, and ask that we get it working.
These include massive un-normalized databases with non functioning UI's
User who insist on simple solutions to complex questions.
"Beginners" inheriting complex Databases who request step-by-step (Free tutoring) instructions.

I know this has been discussed before, but it is true that many members think that since they are spending "All this money" to join, that we *are* (or should be) paid experts, and we should guarantee solutions.

The trend in questions seems to be moving towards "Just give me a fish", and away from "Teach me to fish".
:-(

7. No real "Tutorials" section.

The Good
1. Question cleanup: Some sited don't even have it. I have searched for solutions and found a link that looks promising, only to find that the question has been un-answered since 2004!

2. Accepted Solutions, again some sites don't even have this. So you are left wondering not only if the issue was resolved, but which post solved the issue.

3. Moderators, support staff...ect: Again, we have it, on most other sites, you are on your own.

4. *The* most, professional, knowledgeable, friendly Experts anywhere.
;-)

Yes, I know all of these topics have been discussed at great length already, but up until now I have stayed silent.

I will probably be less active in the coming months due to the enormous backlog of work I have at my day job.
(I have also been put in charge of the Office 2007 migration)
Also, my Access "Things to do one day when your have time" list is all but maxed out. It's time to have some fun and keep my skills sharp at the same time!
(Personal advancement)
So I intend on posting my own "bizarre" questions as well!

I'm sad to say, but the 'Advanced' (not) search feature on EE is antiquated at a minimum. I rarely use it ... and I can imagine how it frustrates potential Question posters. It's waaaay easier to ask a Q than search for it a solution. First and foremost, if ... you get no results or not the results you want, you have to start completely over - tediously specifying your parameters again. Imagine if you had to do that on Google! Unless I am missing something?

No you haven't. I'm also totally frustrated by the search function.
First, it is very hard to find(!) - some mocked up tiny pictures and links top right, should be a main entry.
Then, it is so complicated to enter search items that every time I try I wonder why I waste time on this.

The result is clear: Over and over pop up questions that have been answered multiple times before. This is indeed an areay that needs a major rewrite.

Someone who knows where to address this, feel free to quote me.
