How to control populating a form when a user enters a value in a text box

I have a form with a textbox to collect a SSN.  When the user enters the SSN I want them to click on the Find SSN button.  Once the button is clicked, the form will show the information if the SSN is found otherwise allows a new entry to be added.  The form with the data is disabled.  The Find SSN button enables the form once the button is clicked.  The textbox SSN is linked to the subform SSN from the database.

What is happening is if I enter a SSN and press <Tab>, the data is displayed for the SSN entered but the subform has not been enabled because the Find SSN button hasn't been clicked.  Is there a way to force the subform to only display the data when the Find SSN button is clicked?  I suspect the subform is displaying the data because I have the subform linked to the textbox SSN.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Start Free Trial
