How do I make my tables available to other users

Asked by Rob4077 in Microsoft Access Database

I have an access database that contains numerous tables that I want to allow other users to have access to and need some direction as the system is not responding quite the way I thought it would. I  have placed the database in a shared folder then I have created an application on another machine that connects to the Linked tables. Unfortunately is seems that if I open the main application then try to open the application on the other machine the other machine responds by saying that it can't access the tables because they are already in use. Alternatively if I open the application on the other machine it will read the tables but will not write to them and then if I try to open the main application it will only open the tables in Read Only format. I have left everything on both machines at the MS Access default settings. What do I need to do so that both machines can read and write to records in the tables?Start Free Trial
