The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Database download issues after software reload

Asked by JazCat in Microsoft Access Database, Access Coding/Macros

Tags: Microsoft, Access, 2007

I had a lovely Access 2007 database that was working just fine.  Then, unfortunately, my company sent out a coreload update for the laptop.  I have everything reloaded but now a couple of major parts of the database do not work.  First, I download some files from an internal web site, no password needed. The code below was working fine before the update (famous last words, I know).  Now it doesn't work at all. No changes on the web site side either. I can manually download the files with no problem.

Second problem is all the formatting that I was doing in Excel, called from the Access database, has stopped happening. I remove some characters that Access doesn't like in field names, periods mostly, before importing as well as format created Excel files to make reading easier, bold text, conditional formatting, that kind of thing. None of this seems to work either, as if Access can no longer see Excel.

I checked all my references in Access VB and they all seem to be there.  I made sure the security settings in Access and Excel were opened up.  I added the location of the databases files to the trusted locations settings in Access and Excel. Still doesn't work.

I believe these problems are all related.  All assistance will be appreciated.
