check if record exists before entering any new data

Hi Experts,

My subform is bound to a form. When the form is opened, a combo box indicates if the user want to ''search'' for a record or to enter a new record. If the combo box is set to ''new entry'', then the subform appears and the user can enter new data.
The problem is: the user forgets many times to check if a name exists before entering another. So what I'm trying to do is: When the user enter the Name, then Surname, the form should check automatically if the record exists before allowing the user to enter the rest of the info (telephone, addres, city). How I canm do that?
