Executing VBA Commands using Strings in Access

Hi I want to execute VBA commands from a string. I believe I am close to getting it working, but I can't reference a Report with my code.

I'm trying to bind a value to a text box on my report (MyReport) with code generated from a string, but I recieve the error  "Run-time error '424': Object required: 'Report_MyReport'"

How can I reference my report using the following code?

I think you need:

code = "Reports!MyReport.[Text1365]=100"

Thanks mvasilevsky but  'code = "Reports!MyReport.[Text1365]=100"  Produces a Syntax error.'

The reason why I tried Report_MyReport is because that is what I use to reference the report in my VBA script. Report_MyReport.[Text1365] = 100 works fine when I type it directly into my VBA code, however I want to be able to execute the code using the "MSScriptControl.ScriptControl" object... however my reference to the report doesn't work when I execute the string with the object...

  code = "MsgBox(""Hello"")"  works and displays a Message Box displaying 'Hello'... I just don't know how I can reference my Report successfully.

Why exactly are you trying to do this?

You can surely do a similar thing by:
Reports("MyReport").Controls("Text1365") = 100

Thanks flavo but "Reports("MyReport").Controls("Text1365") =100" produced the error "Type Mismatch: 'Reports' .

The reason why I'm trying to do this is because I want to be able to execute VBA code based on a loop and values in a recordset...

For example:

Set recordset = Db.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM temp;)

For i = 1 to 10
code =  "Report_MyReport.[Text" & i & "] = " & recordset!field1
scr.ExecuteStatement code

recordset.MoveNext
Next

___________

So the above code I want to set Text1, Text 2, etc... to the values in the recordset.

Hope that makes sense?

Yup, much simpler than that:

Set Recordset = Db.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM temp;")

For i = 1 To 10
    Reports("MyReport").Controls("Text" & i) = Recordset!field1
    Recordset.MoveNext
Next

Reading the last line of your comment, maybe that should be:


Set rs= Db.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM temp;")

For i = 1 To 10
    Reports("MyReport").Controls("Text" & i) = rs.Fields("Field" & i)
    Recordset.MoveNext
Next
