To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Hello,
I recently migrated my database backend from Access to SQL Server 2005. I'm still using Access on the front-end and everything is working great. My only real issue thus far is that I can no longer easily grab values from what were AutoNumber fields in Access and now are Identity fields in SQL server. For example, in the code below, I want to capture the Identity value SQL Server applies to the record I'm adding so I can use it in the next bit of code. In Access, the value was applied before the record was updated, so I could get it right away and this code worked. With SQL Server, it is applied after the update and I don't know how to change my code to capture it. This is a multi-user environment, so I can't use DMax or anything like that because I can't rely on the timing. I'd appreciate any help.
