Browse All TopicsHi,
I am getting an error when I open my access database. The error message is - 'The specified procedure could not be found - OCI.DLL'.
I am getting this error only on some computers when I try to open a access database application. It is working fine on other computers. Any ideas? Any suggestion or help would be greately appreciated.
Thanks,

From what I can tell, this is an Oracle file.
Make sure that every machine that needs this has all the "Oracle" files installed properly.

Ah... it would be helpful to know if the Access database is linked to an Oracle database. Can the author confirm or deny that?
If so, there are several things that need to be configured on the computer. I believe the Oracle Client software needs to be installed, which should also install the Oracle database driver, (which could be different things depending on what driver you specified when you created the data source for Access to link to).
The data source also needs to be listed in the [something I can't remember].ORA file

Do all the machines have Microsoft Access installed?
Can you search the machines that generate the error to see if you can find the file named OCI.DLL?
Opening an Access Application either requires a full version of Microsoft Access to be installed on the computer, or, in the past, Microsoft had available a distribution package that would distribute the Access Runtime files. I suspect that this file is one of those (though that is just a guess).
Is there any other common factor about the computers that do not work, such as are they running Windows Vista? Sometimes Vista has a problem registering DLLs during an installation (particularly if you are not signed in as an Admin on the computer during installation). If so, then usually unregistering the DLL and reregistering it will solve the problem.
