Question

Printing Labels from MS Access onto OKI Microline 3321

Asked by: HeronandBrearley

I am currently trying to print small labels (8.9cm width x 3.5cm height) from Microsoft Access onto an OKI Microline 3321 dot matrix printer.
The problem is that after printing each label the printer feeds to the next form. The smallest form size in the OKI manual is 3 inches (approx 7cm) high, so 1 label is missed each time. How do I stop this auto feed from happening or reduce the form setting on the printer.
I know that it can be done as we have a DOS program which print perfectly to it without moving onto the next form.

How many labels per page, and what is the page size.  Open the report and click File, Page Setup...  Make sure it is all filled in correctly.

Yes, as Ray states, the dimensions are *critical*.

If even one dimension is .00001 beyond the limit, a Page Feed may result.

What I usually do is set my dimensions to be a little smaller than the limit.
Remember that some labels are in English and there is a accuracy difference when converted to Metric units. (or vice versa)

So if the label is 8.9cm, I will set my label to 8.8cm.

Thanks Guys,

I had already tried this. You have to physically change the seetings on the printer and becuase the page that I was printing on to did match the printer settings a form feed occurred. I purchased a different printer and my problem was resolved by simply altering the page setup settings as you suggested.

<my problem was resolved by simply altering the page setup settings as you suggested.>

If your problem was resolved with the help of my suggestion, then wouldn't it be fair to award me some points?

whilst I don't mind who get the points, people reading this question in future will be misled by thinking that your solution resolved the problem. When in fact the problem wasn't a page setup issue it was a problem with the particular model of printer that was being used. The solution was in fact to purchase a new printer. Clearly I do not need an 'expert' to introduce the concept of page setup. But on the other hand if you want the points that badly then I will create a basic page setup question and give you the points. Let me know how you wish to proceed, keep the good work up guys!

>I purchased a different printer and my problem was resolved by simply altering the page setup settings as you suggested.<  I agree - I missed the part about you having bought a new printer.  No points for me thanks.
