That would be nice. But will the client's 2003 license key be valid for this 2003 R2?

Browse All TopicsWe have a client with a Windows Server 2003 to be reinstalled.
What is the easiest way to update this to R2 or similar, current status without downloading hundreds of MB via Windows Update?
Is a cd-rom (iso image) available somewhere?
We have ourselves the media for 2003 R2, but the client has a Select agreement which, however, does not include 2003 R2, so I assume we have to use his 2003 media for install?

You need R2 license key. Check this tutorial http://windowsitpro.com/ar
OK. This states:
<quote>
You'll be prompted to enter an R2 CD key (this is different from your existing Windows 2003 keys) if the underlying OS wasn't installed from R2 media (e.g., a regular Windows 2003 SP1 installation). Enter the R2 key and click Next. Note: The license key entered for R2 must match the underlying OS type, which means if you installed Windows 2003 using a volume-license version key, then you can't use a retail or Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) R2 key.
</quote>
So, as the 2003 was installed with a volume-license version key, the client will need a volume-license version key for 2003 R2, right? Which he doesn't have.
If so, I will need another method for update rollup.

From here:

it reads that SP2 is the latest service pack and no rollups are available, so I guess I'm stuck with that - install SP2 and then run Windows Update on-line.
