Combo Box Custom Row Source

I have a combo box, though vba I have a query for the rowsource .
select prefrix, id, postfix from emp

it show in the combo box fine I want it to return the ID but it puts the prefix in the combobox instead

set the column widths to this:
0cm;2cm;0cm;

there is a property for the combo box - Bound Column
with your rowsource,
   to save the value of ID
     * set the Bound Column value to  2
   to display the ID after a selection is made
     * set the Column Width property to
        0;1;1
     * set the Column Count to 3

do you mean displaying the three columns after a selection was made from the combo box ?

if this is what you want, you need some trick to accomplish this. Just say so and i'll show how

the query I am using is: select prefix, id , postfix from emp;
when the combo box drops down it show all three columns.

When I select an item from the combo box it puts the prefix into the box.

I want the ID in the box

which column from the combo box do you want to save as part of a record?

in the after update event of your combo, try this

private sub combo0_afterUpdate()
me.combo0=me.combo0.column(1)

end sub

That is not working either. It still puts the prefix in instead of the ID

I can't upload the file but here are screen shots of the settings. I have to dynamically set the rowsource. That part of the combo box works with out issue.

Access always selects the first column of the query to display and store. If you use select id, prefix, postfix from emp; instead, then it will display and store id once you select it. All three choices will still display when the menu is dropped down.
