Incorrect date Conversion in Query

Zones: MS SQL Server, Microsoft Access Database, SQL Query Syntax

The following query gives amongst other things the lead time defined as the diference between the
date of delivery ("DateDelivery") and the date of shipment ("DateShip").
If there's no delivery date (i.e. the shipment is still in transit)
the lead time is the difference between the current date/time and the date ship.

this was supposed to be calculeted by:

cast(CASE WHEN [DateDelivery] is null THEN getdate()- shipdate ELSE [DateDelivery] - [DateShip] END as decimal(15,10)) as LeadTime,

But for example as you can see I have afilter to show a single shipment (BOOKINGID=14762)

for this record Dateship=5/12/08 (With no hours)
getdate is 5/16/08 15:20

therefore the date difference is 1/4/1900 15:20
which when converted to days is 4.638888889

but the query is giving me a result of 6.93!

If this was the case then I would have people very upset.

My question Is how do I get the true leadtime with and without a delivery date?
