"Usercontrol" placed inside a popup creating exceptions

Hi All,
I have a "NumericEdit" usercontrol. In the "UserControl_Loaded" method of the usercontrol, I have
  "Label lab = (Label)MyButton.Template.FindName("Units", MyButton);"

If I place a this usercontrol, inside a popup(popup is placed in a window), the variable "lab" always evaluates to null.
Otherwise this works fine.

Could anyone tell the reason why is this.?
