Penetration Testing

Experts,
I've developed a website that is going to be officially launched very soon. My management has asked an Auditing company to perform a Penetration Testing on the website before launching. I use ASP.NET 2.0 on a Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. My SQL Server 2000 is inside our network, and links to the web server which is behind the firewall thru the proper ports.

I don't exactly know what a penetration test involves, so:
1.      What are the considerations I have to take into account before uploading my web project to the live server for testing?
2.      Any check list to follow?
3.      Links to read about it?
