.net application on windows and oracle database on solaris box

Hi,

We are going to develop an application on windows using .net framework and the database is Oracle and it is going to reside on the solaris box. Has any foreseen problems in this?

Pls share your views.

If you are able to connect to the Oracle database using .NET there should be no problem.

Anyway, I don't like .NET as it locks you very tightly into Micro$ost's world (I'd better be using Perl or Java).
Perl has generic DB connections (like

There should not be any problems running .NET and an Oracle machine.  We are currently running SharePoint Server 2007 with an existing Oracle 10g database (it's not running the SharePoint, FYI).  We connect to it via the "System.Data.OracleClient" connection, but you can also use the ODP.NET connector as well from Oracle (http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/windows/odpnet/howto/connect/index.html).

You should be just fine.
