The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Network Card issues on a HP DL380 server, not showing up in Device Manager

Asked by smckellar83 in Internet Protocols, SBS Small Business Server, Computer Servers

Hi,
I have major problems with the network cards on a DL380 with WIndows SBS installed.

The adapters were originally showing up and working, however, whenever the server rebooted it would ask for certain drivers and then fail because it said the failed - however, this did not affect the network, as it was the Virutal Bus Adapter that was failing - the actual adapters were installed and running. In an attempt to fix this I removed both network adapters and rebooted into safe mode. Upon doing this, the network adapters are no longer even detected. There is no 'Network Adapters' in Device manager and it is not picking them up. I have removed and am about to reinstall the HP Support Pack - but can't see how this will resolve things?

When I click View Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager, I see a couple of Network adapters but these are old (ghost) adapters that I cannot remove - when I do it says they may be needed to boot the server. I have googled around and the only thing I can see is that maybe the TCP stack is corrupt. I followed the netsh winsock reset command and have had no luck.

Can anybody help me? This is a live server and it is 9PM here - I need to get the server back on line before business starts tomorrow.

Thanks!
