The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Microsoft Licensing: unable to add licenses for Microsoft Exchange

Asked by slickmurf in Windows 2003 Server

Tags: data, access, appropriate, license

We began having licensing issues after we upgraded out network to windows server 2003 (all clean installs). Whenever we went into Licensing and tried to ad a new client license we would get the error" You do not have the appropriate access privileges to complete this operation" even though i was logged in as an administrator.  The event viewer on our domain controller showed the following errors,
"The purchased license data could not be saved to CPL.CFG.  The data is the error code."
And
"The user data could not be saved to LLSUSER.LLS.  The data is the error code."

Any other servers running the license logging service reported this error in event viewer “Replication of license information failed because the logging service on server <servername> could not be contacted”.

The only fix I could find was to reset the license logging service (Microsoft 883399) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;883399
I followed every step in this article.

After I reset the service everything was fine and now there are no more errors and we were able to add licenses for windows server. NOW the problem is we have other servers and need to add licenses for them but we are not able to because they are missing from the products drop down menu. When you try to add a new client access license the only things listed are Windows Server and Microsoft BackOffice. I need to be able to add licenses for Microsoft Exchange Server. So how do I get Microsoft Exchange Server in that drop down menu so I can add licenses? I looked everywhere. Can someone please help me?
