The system event log has the following error: and is appearing every few seconds

Source: Service Control Manager
Error 7011
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the WSearch service

What is the search interval for wsearch?

Between 30 and 60 seconds

Try increasing search interval and see if the error is coming or not.

It seems to be a problem with the new windows search utility that came  with a update from Microsoft.  I do not wish to have that service active so I have disabled it, and now the errors have stopped.

Good. Sometimes it is very essential to test updates on a test server and then apply it to production environment.
