create public and private key for server

Hi,
I must create a public and private key for our server, it must bij 1024 bits long RSA. What is the safest way to do this.
Can anyone point me in the right direction

Open the IIS management console.
Right click on your web site and bring up the properties
Go to the Directory Security tab
Click on the Server Certificate... button
Click Next
Select Create a new server certificate
Click Next

Follow the steps in the wizard and make sure you specify 1024 bit keys when it asks.
